Go say “Hello” to the animals – Local Zoos often have free days once a week during the summer. Grab your kids and have a great day talking to the monkeys. The only cost you’ll have to worry about is the snack bar offering!
Visit a National Park – Not only can you visit for free, but there’s always plenty to do! Have a picnic, go hiking, and even swim in the lakes or rivers. Just don’t forget that sunscreen.

Go fish – No, not like the card game. Actually fishing is always an excellent idea for some family bonding. Nothing like sitting by the water, handling worms, and reeling in a few “beauties”. Just add sweet tea and lawn chairs.
Try Geocaching – Geocaching is a real-world treasure hunt. Players try to locate hidden items, called Geocaches, using their phones and then share their finds online. The Geocaches can be anywhere and in anything. Some even require you to leave an item in the Geocache, as well as take one. Don’t let the heat get in the way of your fun! Remember that if you’re out during the day, you can save on Air Conditioning and electricity too. Please share below some of your favorite summer outings!
