September is for Saving

The highly anticipated month of September is finally here! It’s an exciting time whether you are into football, or are looking for a change in season. For us savers, September is also great for its big discounts for Labor Day and beyond!

Here are some purchases where you can save this month:

Buys from last season – Now that September officially marks the beginning of fall, summer items across categories are going on sale with great discounts. These include summer clothes and swimsuits, as well as barbecue essentials like patio sets and grills. Similarly, outdoor and sporting goods for camping, hunting and fishing are also on sale this month. Stock up these items to save both your money and time when next summer rolls around!

Buys for next season – The beginning of fall is the best time to buy ahead and save for end-of-the-year holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Not too far from these holidays but still leaving you with plenty of time, September is a good month to book flights for holiday travels, or get started on holiday gifts while some wish list items are still in stock at the lower price.

Almost-old models – Coming close to the end of the year, companies and manufacturers are likely planning to launch new models of big-ticket items like cars, home appliances and electronics. To make space for next year’s models, this year’s inventory will be on sale in all major electronics and appliances retailers and car dealers. If you have planned to make a big purchase this year, September is the time to buy and save.

Back-to-school buys – Sales on school and office supplies continue with deeper discounts as back-to-school season almost comes to an end. This makes for a great time to save on what you need this school year, or stock up for the next.

Seasonal produce – During September you can save not only with off-season purchases, but also fresh fall produce. These include artichokes, beans, bell peppers, chili peppers, cucumber, eggplant, okra, onion, squash, spinach, sweet potatoes, tomatillos and winter squash for vegetables; and tomatoes, apples, Asian pears, Bartlett pears, grapes, pomegranates and Valencia oranges for fruits.
