Last week we discussed how to save money on groceries and home-cooked meals. Now take into consideration these tips and save when dining out as well!
- Learn to share – Did you realize that if you share a meal you actually cut your bill in half? Just ask your server if it is alright to split the meal (some restaurants may charge a small split plate fee of two or three dollars). Most restaurants will bring the meal out on two separate plates. This is a great way to get two meals for the price of one!
- Dine early – Because most people go to dinner after 6, many restaurants offer early bird specials or happy hours during slow dining times. Go an hour or two earlier and take advantage of great savings on your meal!
- Order water – Not only is water healthier than unlimited soft drinks, it is a lot cheaper, too. Two dollars or more per drink can add up.
- Learn the ways of the menu – Generally speaking, the highest priced items on the menu are located in the upper right-hand corner. This is no accident either. Restaurants use this ploy as a way to make money. When you open up a menu, the human eye usually gravitates to this area. Train your eye to check out the lower priced items first.
